These are the Moments

What changed most was my understanding of learning itself. It became something active and exploratory, rather than something I simply completed. My approach to new subjects has been shaped by that experience, looking beyond what's assigned or given, but ways to engage, experiment, and build new ideas. - Alex

How great is it when a student finally gets something? The lightbulb goes on for them, and there is a whole new world.

How great is it when a student goes and does a bunch of unassigned reading on something you discussed in class, and they are so excited to share what they learned?

How great is it when a student brings an idea or perspective that you had not seen before or thought of prior?

It is pretty great. It is pretty much the coolest thing that happens in our daily lives as teachers, except when a former student comes back to say something like the quote above about their time with us.

These are the moments we live for. They are the moments when all of the work we have been doing gets paid back and then forward again as we do it for another student.

We have the coolest job there is. Have a great day doing the best job.

Go make some more special moments!
