Show Me the Love

We have talked about how when doing what you love, seeps into the fabric of the classroom, you light up and then the kids light up. If you love music, play music in class. If you love art, do more projects with different mediums. If you love debate, inspire more conversations. When we bring what we love into the classroom, everyone wins.  

The kids might say, "There is no way you love fractions this much” or "No way you can possibly like writing essays,” but oftentimes we do. Sometimes you cannot possibly love every topic.  Handwriting or diagramming sentences would kill me every time.

There are those things that we do love and the methods with which we inhale, digest, and share with anyone who will listen. It is also those skills we have honed over the years to make the tasks less fun and more interesting. That is the gold we can share with them.  

First we get them curious, then we show them all the different ways we know how to learn something. That love of learning is the greatest gift we can give them. It is not just a nice slogan for student learning objectives, but the greatest goal outside of making them better humans.  

If we can give them all the tools they need to learn, keep them curious, and help them be great people, then how can we do anything but succeed and love doing it?
