Show Me How to Win This Game

I would have to say Mohamad’s teacher knocked it out of the park. If their curiosity to learn never leaves and the joy of critical thinking, of solving complex problems, of seeking out new perspectives is always present, then we truly have done all we can.  

Throw in some kindness, empathy, and conviction to do the right thing, and what else could we want for them?  

On some level, if the students are in our rooms for the 180 days for 13+ years and we have kept them safe and out of major trouble, we should call it a success. We want more for them than to occupy space and time; we want them to do well with both of them.  

We want them to become the best version of themselves, make friends and be kind to those around them, find interests, hobbies, passions, to think and to make the world a better place as a result of the space and time they consume.  

We want so much more for them because we know what that is like. We remember ourselves as kids, but we also want all the same things for our adult selves as well.  

How can we do anything but lead down this path? We can’t. It is so in our nature to nurture them along, to show them what it is to get the most out of all of this time and space.  

Show them what it means to be a part of this class, this school, this community, this world. You are their guide on this path. Show them how to do it right!
