Do You Know What I am into?

My teacher would spend extra time explaining things, and they would hand-pick activities and lessons based on my specific learning style. One teacher in elementary school took a math lesson and implemented basketball into it because that was what I was into back then. -Kavi

The majority of students do not need much incentive to fall in line and follow the task of the class. It seems that about 90% of students fall in this easy-to-manage category. Most of our effort is spent helping the 5% ahead of everyone else and the 5% behind everyone else. Those students demand more attention than usual and can take up a good chunk of our energy.  

When that first pass through content goes through, inevitably someone will miss the concept, be checked out that day, or just not be with the program. These kids are the ones that need a little something extra on the next pass.  

It is on this pass that the creative moments come through and hook that many more students. It is that extra bit of effort that finally reaches a kid that was dodging your previous attempts like a timid boxer. You got three more with that attempt and 2 more on the review. 

You are nearing full class understanding and are ready to hammer home all of it with a final push to reach all the students.  

Wow.

That was amazing. It really is amazing. When we finally reach all of the students. When we finally have got all of their attention. Not just today but forever. That is truly amazing, and we do it all the time, which makes it even more amazing.  

See how you might be able to draw in a couple more kids today. See how you might make that lightbulb go on and keep the lights on for the rest of the year.

It does take a little more effort, but oh, is it worth it!
