Do What You Love

In college, my professor only taught history classes in areas of the world he either lived or worked in. It dawned on me that you should only do what you love and settle for nothing less. -Alex

It is easier said than done, but isn’t it our goal in life to be fulfilled? They say fulfillment comes from having:

• Autonomy

• Being Part of a Team

• Having Work that is Meaningful
  

It is true in any profession, but you can see how teaching fits all three.  

We have a lot of freedom within the framework of the subjects we teach. We work with other good people that also believe that we can make a difference in our students’ lives. It is all baked into the job.  

We have the greatest responsibility of caring for and guiding our students along their journey, but we also have the greatest opportunity to inspire them to greater things than even they can imagine themselves capable of doing.  

If you don’t believe that, if you don’t love it, then you are in the wrong profession, but I know that you believe it. It is within your heart and in your bones. The kids see it on your face when you smile at them and call them by name. They hear it in your voice when you laugh with them and tell them stories.  

You have the greatest job in the world, even if it is not perfect and doesn’t always love you back like it should. The students are worth it. You are worth it!  

Go do what you love today and don’t settle for anything less than a great day.
